Lasting
Change Methods
for Enhancing Generalization of Gain
Dr. Arnold
P. Goldstein and Dr. Brian K. Martens
|
The
major thrust of this book is generalization of gain in psychotherapy. The information
presented also applies to change agents and recipients of training in educational
and industrial settings. This book explores the varied history of generalization,
elaborating on generalization techniques and examining obstacles to their use.
The authors describe, in user-friendly detail, procedures representing both the
existing technology of generalization enhancement and a number of emerging techniques
that hold promise. They also consider how the qualities of the change agent and
the context of training can influence generalization. |

Aggression First
Steps on the Ladder to Violence
Dr. Arnold P. Goldstein
| "Catch
it low to prevent it high." This timely, one of a kind book focuses on the
critical but often ignored problem of low-level aggression in schools and other
settings. The
author provides a series of useful strategies and tactics to help reduce and control
low-level aggression-behaviors such as teasing, cursing, bullying, and vandalism-that
when left unchecked often escalate into more serious forms of aggression and criminal
activity. The
book also discusses thought processes that promote aggression: misperceptions,
rationalizations, and other thinking errors.

Psychology of Group Aggression
ISBN: 0-470-84516-3
Dr. Arnold P. Goldstein |
People
in groups act aggressively as a group, not as a collection of individuals. The
Psychology of Group Aggression's comprehensive journey starts with group dynamics
theory and research by reviewing its relationship to aggression. Arnold
P. Goldstein then provides a unique and valuable insight into the different types
and levels of intensity of anti-social behavior, examines its causes and considers
its costs. In separate chapters he considers low intensity aggression, including
ostracism, hazing, teasing; mid-intensity, e.g. bullying and harassment; and high
intensity aggression, e.g. mobs and gangs.
In a final section, he considers
management and intervention techniques, both widely employed and emerging methods.
The Psychology of Group Aggression is an important work for both a pure and an
applied audience.
It will be a key reference for many, including clinical
and forensic psychologists, psychiatrists, criminal justice workers, social psychologists
and academics and students in criminology, psychology and sociology.
